Please vote for us (and help us raise some funds)

We have applied as part of a funding offer from ‘Mars’ (the company not the planet) who have a community funding programme offering £300 to causes that are voted for by people showing support.

Please would you follow the link and vote for Taunton Theatre Association?

It would be most helpful!

Soon we will have a route for accepting donations on a more general basis – but this is just for starters!

Email a councillor to save YOUR theatre

It is essential that the councillors of Taunton Deane Borough Council vote in favour of acquiring the lease of the Brewhouse Theatre on behalf of their constituents to ensure we have a theatre in the heart of our county town.

Please email your councillor today and ask them to recognise that the community would support such a decision.

Taunton is the County Town of Somerset – worth visiting?

Next Tuesday (23rd July) is a pivotal point in what happens to the theatrical and artistic offer in the centre of Somerset’s county town. The SPACE company present ‘Our House’ – a stunning show!

Madness – at the Tacchi Morris

I was privileged to attend a performance of Our House (The Madness Musical) tonight, presented by the Year 1 group studying at The SPACE college in Monkton Heathfield – and it was BRILLIANT!

I spoke to a number of people attending the performance for whom tonight was a first time visit to the Tacchi Morris Arts Centre!

We are blessed in Taunton to have a unique facility in The Space, which is a dedicated Performing Arts Centre offering 16 – 18 year old students the opportunity to study for a full time BTEC diploma in the performing arts. Each year group in the college operates as a theatre company, planning, producing and performing ever increasingly challenging pieces.

Tonight’s performance of Our House was no exception, and played to a full house, and the ‘students actors received a well deserved standing ovation.

It is normal to highlight individual actors for their outstanding performance, but that would not do the whole company justice – simply stunning! Our House has its final night tomorrow, there may be a few tickets left at www.tacchi-morris.com

If you miss this, then be sure not to miss Titus  Andronicus (by a certain Mr William Shakespeare)  16-18 October – This is a site specific work presented in derelict industrial buildings at Tonedale (Wellington).

Simply stunning – Bravo Space Company!

Taunton Thespians – Merry Wives of Windsor – A Somerset Classic!

Taunton Thespians present ‘Merry Wives of Windsor’

Buy your tickets now from the online ticket office

Directed by: Michael Gilbert & Jane Edwards

The last performances of Taunton Thespians Summer Tour are now looming, with Maunsel House tonight (3rd July) Mount Somerset Hotel (4th July) Dillington House (5th July) and Hartwood House (6th July) all lined up to offer you the treat of William Shakespeare’s witty tale about the exploits of the ‘Fat Knight’ Sir John Falstaff played by Maat Ward. Maat captures the true spirit of the naughty knave as he woos two wealthy women, and finds himself bundled into a laundry (buck) basket and carried away! In the spirit of the age we see irony in abundance coupled with ribald humour and a health disrespect for matters of the court. Not to be missed…
